AutoSonix™ Generator

Autosonix E-GN5500 Generator, Dual and Single Handpieces

Manufactured on a worldwide basis for Tyco Healthcare, the AutoSonix system uses ultrasound for cutting and smokeless cauterization of tissue. Unlike electrocautery (high radio frequency) or lasers, significantly less collateral damage occurs to surrounding tissue since tissue temperatures are kept far lower and the energy input is more precise. In addition, no electrical current is delivered to the probe, thereby minimizing patient risk.

Misonix's Ultrasonic Surgical System incorporates elongated probes with sealing provisions enabling its use in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgical procedures.

Bringing a semi-sharp blade in contact with tissue cuts the tissue quickly and cleanly, while eliminating the usual force or movement associated with standard scalpels. Blood loss is minimized, since the ultrasound energy creates a coagulum that helps seal small blood capillaries. If a clamping probe is used, the instrument can cut and seal blood vessels in one step. As the blade cuts through the vessel, the coagulum created seals the ends, creating virtually bloodless vessel separation.
